OXFORD, Miss. -- Several members of the Ole Miss men's and women's track and field squads will travel to Atlanta, Ga., to compete in the Reebok Invitational on Saturday. The Ole Miss participants in Saturday's meet are those who have provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
"Saturday's meet is an opportunity for our athletes who have provisionally qualified for the NCAAs to improve where they stand nationally," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "Our athletes already have solid marks and times, but it never hurts to improve our standings."
Those athletes competing on Saturday are Willie Moore in the 200 meters, Alonzo Banks in the 400 meters, Wayne Woolley in the 400-meter hurdles, Kyle Wallace in the pole vault, Kino Mosley in the long jump and Marcus Jones in the triple jump. The Rebel 4x400 meter relay team of Banks, Woolley, Savante Stringfellow and Jimmy Love will also compete at the Reebok Invitational.
On the women's side, Teneeshia Jones will compete in the 100 and 200 meters and the 100-meter hurdles. Jones will also run a leg on the Lady Rebel 4x100 meter relay with Dawn Dickerson, Wanikka Vance and Candice Cattron. Other Lady Rebels competing are Chika Chuku in the 800 meters, Brandy Mack in the 400-meter hurdles and Brandy Barnett in the high jump.
Ole Miss' lone automatic qualifier for the NCAAs is Stringfellow. The Jackson, Miss., native has qualified for the NCAA Championships in the long jump. Last weekend, Stringfellow won the long jump title at the Southeastern Conference Championships.
The NCAA Championships will be held June 3-5 in Boise, Idaho.
