DURHAM, N.C.--In its first-ever NCAA East Regional appearance, the Ole Miss women's golf team shot a first-round 312 on Thursday at the Duke Golf Club and is tied for 14th place.

SEC Champion Georgia leads the tournament with a 293, followed by Duke and LSU with a 297. Julia Boros of Georgia fired a 69 to lead the individual field, followed by teammate Reilley Rankin, the SEC Player and Freshman of the Year, with a 70.

Other SEC teams participating in the East Regional include Florida and Tennessee, which are tied for eighth with a 308; Auburn, tied for 10th with a 309; Kentucky, tied with Ole Miss for 14th with a 312; and Alabama, in 16th place with a 313.

Two-time All-SEC performer Robyn Rinaldo, a sophomore from Dade City, Fla., is tied for 28th place with a 76. Megan Breen, a three-time All-SEC selection and a junior from Longwood, Fla., shot a 78 and is tied for 50th with teammate Marci Kornegay, a freshman from Savannah, Ga.

Junior Anna Kirchner of Spring, Texas, is tied for 71st place with an 80, and senior Lauren Mellen of Orlando, Fla., is tied for 88th with an 83.

The Lady Rebels have finished in the top 10 in all 10 tournaments this year and have a record seven top five finishes. This is the first NCAA appearance in the history of the Ole Miss women's golf team, which began play in the fall of 1986.

Eight of the 19 teams and two individuals from the East Regional will advance to the NCAA Championship on May 20-23 in Madison, Wis., at the University Ridge Golf Course.

The East Regional will continue Friday and Saturday at 8 a.m. (EST).
