Women's Track Ends First Day at Alabama Relays

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Sophomore Brandy Barnett, a member of the Lady Rebel track and field team, is in 10th place after first-day action in the heptathlon at the Alabama Relays on Thursday. Barnett is in 10th place with a total of 2,770.
Barnett tied for second in the high jump with a mark of 5-4, and posted a mark of 34-7 3/4 in the shot put. She also had times of 16.10 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and 26.91 seconds in the 200 meters.
Pittsburgh's Trecia Smith leads the heptathlon after the first day with a total of 3,355.
The heptathlon concludes on Friday with the long jump, javelin and 800 meters. The men's 10,000 meters and the men's hammer throw will also take place on Friday. Senior Calvin Thigpen will compete for Ole Miss in the 10,000 meters, while junior John Frierson will represent the Rebels in the hammer throw.
