Women's Basketball Names Katie Cochran to Administrative Assistant Post

OXFORD, Miss. - Katie Cochran, a 1999 graduate of Louisiana Tech University, has joined the Ole Miss women's basketball program as an administrative assistant, Lady Rebel head coach Ron Aldy announced Monday.
Cochran's duties will include coordinating tape exchange and travel arrangements, assisting with the schedule, and various other administrative duties as assigned.
"After working with Katie in our basketball camp this past summer, we saw a tremendous amount of talent and capability of handling our administrative duties," Aldy said. "With her having played at a highly successful program such as LouisianaTech, Katie brings a lot of knowledge as far as playing for championships and being associated with a winning tradition. We are excited to have Katie here and look forward to her being able to share that type of experience with our players."
While at Louisiana Tech, Cochran helped lead the Lady Techsters to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen all four years including the National Championship game in 1998. Cochran served as co-captain during the 1997 season and received the Lady Techster Coaches Award in 1998.
An excellent student-athlete, Cochran earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fitness and Wellness with a minor in Business Administration. She won the NCAA All-American Scholar Collegiate Award in 1998, and was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. Cochran was also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Board and Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.
Cochran has worked at several basketball camps including, Ole Miss, Louisiana Tech and Tennessee. She also served as an assistant coach with the 16 and under Shreveport AAU team this past year.
The 1999-2000 Lady Rebels return nine letterwinners, including three starters, from last year's team which posted the program's 23rd winning season and earned a berth in the WNIT.
