OXFORD, Miss. - A good tempo highlighted Tuesday's hot afternoon practice, as the Ole Miss Rebel football team continued preparation for the season opener on Saturday against Conference-USA rival Memphis.

"We had a good tempo," said head coach David Cutcliffe. "We purposefully backed off the length time we were on the field but we picked up the tempo.

Similar to two-a-days, Tuesday's practice was once again unseasonably hot, making practice more difficult."

"It's hot and they're having to push their way through this," said Cutcliffe.

Coach Cutcliffe was pleased with the effort and intensity of this week's practices, picking up the tempo of each practice in anticipation of Saturday's game.

"I think the last two days we've had good work," Cutcliffe said after practice. "We just have to continue calling on each other and getting ourselves ready.

"It's game time here before long so we don't have much time left but I do know we got a lot out of today's practice."

Kickoff for Saturday's game against the Tigers is set for 7 p.m. at Liberty Bowl Stadium in Memphis, Tenn.
