Men's Cross Country Places Third, Women Fourth At Tournament

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Freshman Matt Carter and sophomore Hank Campbell placed 13th and 14th, respectively, to lead the Ole Miss men's cross country team to a third-place finish at the seven-team Plough Park Invitational Friday evening.
Junior Kelly Gable led the Lady Rebels with a ninth-place finish and sophomore Lauren Beaulieu finished 12th to lead Ole Miss to a solid fourth-place showing out of eight teams. The meet was the first of the year for both the men's and women's squads.
Murray State won the men's team title, finishing with 37 points. Mississippi College was second with 77 points, followed by Ole Miss at 83. Rhodes College was fourth with 99 points, followed by the University of Louisiana at Monroe (formerly NE Louisiana), Memphis and UT-Martin.
Brian Plamer of Murray State won the men's four-mile race with a time of 20 minutes, 33 seconds.
On the women's side, Rhodes College won the team title with 65 points, edging out Memphis, 66 points, and Louisiana-Monroe, 69. The Lady Rebels finished with 101 points to finish ahead of Murray State, Mississippi College, UT-Martin and Delta State.
Lauren Clabridge of Louisiana-Monroe won the two-mile women's race with a time of 11:50.
Other Ole Miss finishers on the men's side, included Scott Thompson placing 17th, Marcus Christoffersen finishing 19th and Ben Chisman in 20th-place.
For the Lady Rebels, Katy Nailen placed 21st, Chika Chuku was 33rd and Natalie Gerke finished 35th.
