OXFORD, Miss. - Two players from Ole Miss -- offensive tackle Todd Wade and kicker Les Binkley -- have been selected to Sports Illustrated's All-Bowl Team.
The team, which was selected by Ivan Maisel, is featured in the latest issue of the national magazine.
Wade, a 6-8, 330 pound senior from Jackson, Miss., and Binkley, a 5-9, 170 pound junior from Memphis, Tenn., were named to the postseason all-star roster after helping Ole Miss defeat Oklahoma, 27-25, in the Sanford Independence Bowl.
Of Wade's performance, Maisel wrote that Wade "smothered any Oklahoma player who attempted to lay his hands on Rebels quarterback Romaro Miller in the Independence Bowl. The All-SEC tackle is the reason that Miller likes to roll to his right. Miller rolled all night, passing for 202 yards and two touchdowns."
Maisel cited Binkley, "who made 14 of 16 field goals in the regular season, ignored the timeout that the Sooners called to ice him and kicked a 39-yarder to win the Independence Bowl."
The victory over Oklahoma ended an 8-4 season for Ole Miss as David Cutcliffe's Rebels used the bowl win to rebound into the Top 25, finishing at No. 22 in the major polls.
