Chad Dixon earns second SEC Award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss' Chad Dixon was named Southeastern Conference Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week Tuesday, as announced by the league office.
Dixon, a senior from West Plains, Mo., finished in second place at the Southern Miss Invitational with a time of 26:06 to lead the Rebels to their first team championship of the 2000 season. Dixon's second place finish was also his best of the season.
The award was the second for Dixon this season as he also was named SEC Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week, Sept. 26.
The Ole Miss women's cross country team will travel to Memphis, Tenn., to compete at the Tiger Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14. The women's team will be looking to improve on their fourth place finish at last weekend's Southern Miss Invitational. The Lady Rebels have been led this season by sophomore Katy Nailen and freshman Demetria Burks.
The Rebels will also compete at the Tiger Invitational this weekend, before taking next weekend off in preparation for the SEC Championships. The conference meet will be held Oct. 30, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
