Lady Rebel Volleyball Comes Up Short At Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Ole Miss Lady Rebel volleyball team lost to Arkansas, 15-5, 14-16, 15-10,15-13 Friday night. With the loss, Ole Miss drops to 10-10 overall and 2-5 in SEC play, while the Lady 'Backs improve to 6-9 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
Ole Miss dropped game one 15-5, and then bounced back to grind out a 16-14 win in game two. After evening the match at one game apiece, the Lady Rebels dropped games three and four to the Lady 'Backs and fell back to .500 on the season.
Senior outside hitter Kira Zschau had a strong match for Ole Miss. The Dunedin, Fla., native, collected 23 kills and 21 digs. Junior outside hitter Jaime Burns was right with Zschau as she recorded 23 kills and 15 digs. Sophomore Sarah Lansden tallied 18 digs, nine kills and five blocks and junior Leigh Rittiner posted eight kills, seven blocks and six digs.
Senior setter Renata Nowacki assisted on 59 kills and also had 14 digs and three service aces. Sophomore Erica Tricco registered 11 digs and freshman Jade Polonich added eight digs.
Arkansas was led by Eftila Tanellari with 21 kills and 18 digs. Julie Sloniger had 34 assists for the Lady 'Backs and Evgeniya Rangelova added 22 assists.
Ole Miss will return to action Sunday at 2 p.m., when they play LSU in Baton Rouge, La.
