Lady Rebel Volleyball Falls To South Carolina, 3-0

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Ole Miss volleyball team lost to South Carolina 15-3, 15-2, 15-9, on Friday night. The loss drops the Lady Rebels to 11-12 overall and 2-7 in SEC play, while the Gamecocks improve to 17-4 overall and 8-1 in conference play.
The Gamecocks jumped out to a 6-0 lead in game one, before cruising to the easy 15-3 win. Ole Miss gave USC more of a challenge in game two, but still fell 15-2 to the Gamecocks. The Lady Rebels then hung around in game three before surrendering the 15-9 loss.
Ole Miss was led by senior Kira Zschau with 15 kills, 12 digs and three block solos. Junior Leigh Rittiner had five kills, while sophomore Sarah Lansden had eight digs. Senior setter Renata Nowacki had 18 assists.
South Carolina was led by Berna Dwyer with 12 kills and eight assists and Cally Plummer with nine kills and 10 digs. Megan Hosp had 35 assists for the Gamecocks.
Ole Miss returns travels to Rock Hill, S.C., to take on Winthrop on Saturday at 7 p.m.
