OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss women's basketball senior Becky Myatt was named to the preseason All-Southeastern Conference second team, Thursday. The preseason All-conference teams were voted on by the media members who attended the 2000-01 SEC Basketball Media Days, held Nov. 1-2.
Myatt, a native of Bon Aqua, Tenn., was one of six guards named to either the first or second team. She has started every game of her career and averaged nearly 33.3 minutes per game. Myatt needs 26 threes to become the career leader at Ole Miss and 157 points to become the 19th Lady Rebel to score 1,000 points in a career.
"Becky is very deserving of this honor," Lady Rebel head coach Ron Aldy said. "There is not a player in this league or in the country that works any harder. We feel like she is going to have the best year of her career and will help lead us to places that this program has not been in awhile."
Myatt averaged 9.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game last year. In addition, she dished out a team-high 97 assists and led the team with 59 three-pointers. Myatt finished the 1999-00 season ranked among the top five in the SEC in three-pointers per game with 2.11.
