OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Lady Rebels upped their record to 5-0 with a 70-38 win over Southeastern Louisiana Friday night. This is the best start for Ole Miss since the 1994-95 season, when they went 10-0 to start the season.
Tywanna Inmon led a balanced Lady Rebel attack with 13 points and four rebounds. Saundra Jackson added 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting on the night. Sherika Wright chipped in nine points in the Ole Miss win. She also had five assists and committed no turnovers.
"This was a game where we needed to work on things and I feel we did that," said Ole Miss head coach Ron Aldy. "We really picked things up in the second half and played hard. In the second half, we pressed more and caused more turnovers. We need to get more consistent in our defense. We seem to have lapses and that leads to easy baskets for our opposition."
The Lady Rebels shot 44 percent for the game from the field, while Southeastern Louisiana shot 39 percent. Ole Miss won the battle of the boards by outrebounding the Lady Lions 38-32. The Lady Rebels shot 61.9 percent from the free-throw line, while SLU shot 18.2 percent on 2-of-11 shooting from the charity stripe.
Ole Miss will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Murray State at 2 p.m. The Lady Rebels will return home on Dec. 6, when they host Middle Tennessee at 7 p.m.
