Ole Miss Succumbs To No. 2 Tennessee

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Tamika Catchings scored 19 points as No. 2 Tennessee held Mississippi to 30 percent shooting and made a late-game run to pull away for a 70-49 victory on Thursday night.
Tennessee (20-3, 8-1 Southeastern Conference) held a 34-25 lead after Semeka Randall hit a jumper with 12:23 remaining in the game.
Randall scored 16 points and Kara Lawson added 12 for Tennessee.
Mississippi (11-11, 0-9) cut the lead to 34-31 with 11:03 left on two 3-pointers by Kayla Madewell. The Lady Vols led 36-33 at the 10:26 mark before going on a 12-0 run over the next four minutes.
Ole Miss didn't challenge again.
Randall scored seven of her 19 points in the final run.
Frankie Boyd and Madewell led Ole Miss with 13 points each.
The Lady Vols jumped to a 10-0 lead in the first eight minutes, before Takela Corbitt's 3-pointer to end the Ole Miss scoring drought with 12:04 left in the first half.
The Lady Rebels were able to stay within striking distance the remainder of the first half, cutting Tennessee's lead to five points on three occasions. Tennessee led at 28-19 at the half.
