Voltz Leads Rebels Past Louisiana Tech 13-3

OXFORD, Miss. - Senior first baseman Jude Voltz went 2-for-3 with a career-high five RBIs as Ole Miss rolled past Louisiana Tech 13-3 Saturday afternoon in game two of the three-game series at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.'
The win is the fourth straight for Ole Miss (5-1), while the loss was is the fourth consecutive for the Bulldogs (4-6).
Louisiana Tech scored two runs in the first inning on a RBI single from T.J. Soto and a RBI ground out from Jake Adams.
The Rebels would then plate four in the bottom of the first, including a three-run home run from Voltz to make it 4-2. Voltz later had a two-run double in the sixth to push the Ole Miss lead to 10-3.
The home was the third of the year for Voltz, who recorded at least one hit all six games this season, and has recorded at least one RBI in five of the six games.
Clint Farrar went 3-for-4 to lead Ole Miss' 16-hit attack as nine different players collected at least one hit.
Craig Montgomery and T.J. Soto combined for five of Louisiana Tech's six hits as Montgomery went 3-for-5 and Soto 2-for-4.
Nathan Lyons (1-1) worked five innings to earn the win, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks. He also struck out five.
Adam Kirkendall (0-2) suffered the loss as he was tagged for eight runs on eight hits and two walks.
The two teams will conclude the three-game series tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.
