OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's golf team travels to Jacksonville, Fla. Monday and Tuesday for the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate at the Sawgrass Country Club, a 6,895-yard, par 72 course.
The ninth-annual event, which is hosted by the 14th-ranked University of North Florida, boasts a field that includes Alabama, No. 13 Augusta State, College of Charleston, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Mississippi State, N.C. State, No. 4 Northwestern, No. 12 South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest. Ole Miss did not compete in last year's tournament, which was won by Florida.
The Rebels are coming off a sixth-place showing at last weekend's Gator Invitational. Ole Miss' 54-hole score of 845 was the fourth-lowest in school history, and the final-round 277 was the fifth-lowest round by a Rebel squad.
Senior Jon Bartlett continued his strong play with his third top 20 finish of the year. He tied for 16th with a 210, and is currently 10th in the Southeastern Conference in stroke average at 72.27 for the year. Bartlett will be joined by Phil Caravia, Chris Malloy, Andrew Medley and Troy Muller at the Mercedes-Benz.
