Lady Rebels Named To SEC Academic Honor Roll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Six members of the Ole Miss women's basketball team were among 49 student-athletes named to the 2000 SEC Women's Basketball Academic Honor Roll released Tuesday by SEC Commissioner Roy Kramer.
"We are extremely pleased to have six players make the SEC Honor Roll for the second year in a row," head coach Ron Aldy said. "Academics has been a high priority since we came here. These fine young ladies have worked very hard on and off the court."
Senior Tanya Bolden has a 3.08 grade point average in Exercise Science and will graduate in May. Joining her on the list, were juniors Chandra Dorsey (3.07 - Criminal Justice), Becky Myatt (3.40 - Exercise Science) and Stephanie Murphy (3.27 - Exercise Science) and sophomores Takela Corbitt (3.40 - Biomedical Science) and TaShondrea Moton (3.85 - undecided).
Bolden, Myatt and Murphy are making their second appearance on the SEC Honor Roll. Moton boasted the third highest GPA on the list.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past year (two semesters or three quarters) or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for their career, be a sophomore or higher in terms of academic classification, and have 24 semester or 36 quarter hours toward a degree.
The 2000 SEC Women's Basketball Tournament begins Thursday, March 2 and runs through Sunday, March 5 in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Lady Rebels will face arch-rival Mississippi State in the first round Thursday at 6:00 p.m. CST.
