COLUMBIA, S.C. - Despite a season-high output by Becky Myatt, a pair of first half runs gave the South Carolina Lady Gamecocks all the momentum they needed to defeat the Ole Miss Lady Rebels, 75-58, in Columbia, S.C., Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Rebels (11-10, 0-8 SEC) were led by Myatt, a junior from Bon Aqua, Tenn., with a season-high 19 points. After going only 1-for-4 in the first half, she finished the game 6-for-12 from the field, including 5-of-10 from behind the three-point arch. Freshman Kayla Madewell also contributed with nine points and seven rebounds. The only other Lady Rebel with double digit points was senior Frankie Boyd with 13 points and a team high nine rebounds.

"I was glad to see Becky hit her perimeter shots in the second half," said Ole Miss head coach Ron Aldy. "She had a bunch of good looks in the first half, but the shots just weren't dropping. She hasn't had a lot of confidence lately, but maybe her performance in the second half today will help get back some of her confidence."

For only the fourth time this season, the Lady Rebels were out rebounded by an opponent, 47-44. Leading the South Carolina (12-10, 2-7 SEC) charge was a trio of Lady Gamecocks with double-doubles. Shannon Segres lead the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Jocelyn Penn added 13 points and 11 rebounds while Petra Ujhelyi rounded out the trio with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

"You don't see any players in this league that are playing as hard and as big as this group from South Carolina," said Aldy. "We just don't have a tiger on the court like they have, going after rebounds and loose balls and driving up the lane. They compliment each other very well."

With 14:57 remaining in the first half, the score was tied 6-6, but a 9-0 run by the Lady Gamecocks put them ahead 15-9, before a three-pointer by Kayla Madewell broke the Lady Rebel drought. The Lady Rebels then failed to score for the next 6:46, while South Carolina went on a 16-0 run, to give them the 31-9 lead with 5:50 left in the first. The Lady Gamecocks went on to take a 38-20 lead into halftime.

"We got off to a poor start after the 6-6 tie, and everything went downhill from there," said Aldy. "It takes all this team has to come back from an eight point deficit, because of our lack of offense, and when you get down by 18, it's just too deep a hole. It's just hard to come back from that far down, especially on the road."

After shooting only 26-percent from the field in the first, the Lady Rebels did get a little boost in the second half to finish out the game with 31-percent shooting. On the other side, the Lady Gamecocks made almost half of their shots in the first half, to finish the game with 40-percent shooting, including 50-percent from three-point range.

"Out inside and outside attacks struggled today," said Aldy. "We shot less than 30-percent from the field in the first half, and it's hard to win a game shooting like that, especially against a team that shots and rebounds as well as they do."

The next test for the Lady Rebels will come Thursday night in Oxford, when Ole Miss meets the nationally-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols at 7:00 p.m. in the Tad Smith Coliseum,
