OXFORD, Miss. - The Rebel and Lady Rebel track teams open the 2000 outdoor track and field schedule at the Proctor Invitational on Saturday, hosted by the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg, Texas.

Ole Miss will be competing against teams from host Texas-Pan American, Minnesota State-Mankato and Monterrey Tech from Mexico.

After the most successful indoor season in Lady Rebel history, finishing tied for 18th nationally, the women are hoping to carry that success into the outdoor season, led by four-time indoor All-American Teneeshia Jones.

Defending SEC outdoor long jump champion Savante' Stringfellow leads the Rebels, who spent most of the indoor season ranked nationally in the top 25.

Action begins on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. with the running events, followed by the field events starting at 10:00 a.m.
