Men's Golf Finishes Sixth In Alabama

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Ole Miss' Jon Bartlett fired a final-round 72 to tie for second and lead the Rebels to a sixth-place finish at the Alabama Spring Invitational on Sunday.
Ole Miss posted a score of 282-287-302--870 to finish one stroke out of the top five at the Lagoon Park Golf Course. Auburn, led by individual champion Roland Thatcher, won the event with a three-round 850, 14 strokes under par and 12 ahead of the pack.
Bartlett continued his hot play with a 69-68-72--209 to notch his third top 5 finish of the year. Bartlett, a senior from Ocala, Fla., has placed in the top 10 of his last three tournaments and in the top 20 of his last seven.
Troy Muller tied for 20th with a 66-73-78--217. The junior from Braithwaite, La., has three top 20 finishes this year. Sophomore Andrew Medley carded a 221 for the tournament to tie for 34th, while senior Chris Malloy totaled a 226 and tied for 55th. Phil Caravia ended with a 227, and Brendan Fisher, who competed as an individual, had a 237.
Ole Miss is next in action April 7-9 at the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate in Opelika, Ala., as the Rebels continue their run at a return trip to the NCAA Championships.
