REBELS VS. SEMO: Tonight's game marks the seventh meeting between the Ole Miss Rebels and SE Missouri State Indians ... Ole Miss leads the series 5-1 since its inception in 1996 ... all six of the previous meetings have taken place at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field ... Ole Miss has outscored the Indians 39-27 all-time in the series ... the teams split a two-game series last year in Oxford, with the Rebels winning the opener 6-4 on Feb. 23, and SEMO earning a split with a 1-0 win on Feb. 24.
SCOUTING SEMO: The Indians bring an eight-game win streak into tonight's game, including wins over future Rebel opponents Arkansas (8-7) and Memphis (9-4) ... SEMO is hitting .293 as a team with 10 HRs ... they have outscored their opponents 59-36, including 55-29 during the eight-game win streak ... senior OF Jeremy Johnson leads the team in hitting with a .429 average (15-35) ... senior OF Phil Warren is the Indians' RBI leader with 13, and is tied for the team lead in HRs with two ... IN THE POLLS: Ole Miss is unranked in the three major college baseball polls but did receive 31 votes in the latest Baseball Weekly/ESPN Top 25 poll to finish ninth among "Others Receiving Votes" ... SEMO received six votes in the latest Baseball Weekly/ESPN Top 25 to finish in a tie for 20th among "Others Receiving Votes."
AFTER 11 GAMES LAST YEAR: Ole Miss was 6-5 through 11 games in 1999 ... the Rebels were hitting .311 (123-395) with 18 HRs, 22 doubles, six triples and 67 RBIs ... they had outscored the opposition 76-58 ... Ole Miss had stole 10 bases in 16 attempts and grounded into five double plays ... Rebel pitchers had a 4.45 ERA (95.0 IP, 47 ER), allowing 81 hits, including 12 HRs, walked 41 and had struck out 67 ... Ole Miss had a .973 fielding percentage with 11 errors.
TIME CHANGE: Tomorrow's game with SEMO has been pushed back from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. due to the Ole Miss men's basketball game at LSU being televised by Jefferson Pilot at 1:00 p.m.
REBEL BULLET POINTS:
The 8-3 start equals fourth-year head coach Pat Harrison's first team in 1997 for the best 11-game start under Harrison.
The eight wins in February also ties the 1997 team for the most wins in school history during the month of February.
The Rebels are hitting .366 (89-243) with four HRs in seven home games this season, compared to .303 (46-152) with six HRs in four road games.
Ole Miss was 8-8 during the month of March last season and is 26-25 in March under Harrison.
The 14 runs scored by the Rebels on Tuesday at Southern Miss was the most they have scored and lost since losing to Florida 17-14 in 1997.
Ole Miss is 55-20 (.733 winning percentage) all-time versus teams from the Ohio Valley Conference.
TONIGHT'S STARTING PITCHER
#34 Jeff McAvoy, Sr., RHP

Is making his fourth start of the season.
Is 2-1 with a 7.71 ERA (14.0 IP, 12 ER).
Allowed just one hit and two runs in six innings of work in his start against Louisiana Tech (2/18) last Friday in Oxford.
Struck out a season-high seven against the Bulldogs.
Pitched four shutout innings against Nicholls State in the season-opener (2/11), allowing two hits and one walk.
Was credited with the win versus the Colonels after being lifted due to a pitch count.
Career Numbers:
Is making the 40th appearance of his career and 33rd career start.

LAST START: Lasted just four innings in his start last Friday at South Alabama (2/25) ... allowed 10 earned runs on eight hits, including three home runs, and two walks in suffering the loss ... seven of the 10 runs allowed were off home runs ... allowed the first four batters he faced to reach base ... yielded a three-run home run to Jason Glasscock in the bottom of the first to make it 5-1 South Alabama ... retired the side in order in the second ... gave up his second home run of the game to Tony Piccotti, a solo shot in the third ... allowed four runs on four hits in the fourth, including a three-run shot by Tim Merritt ... was relieved by Brett Young at the start of the fifth.
PRIOR START: Allowed just one hit in six complete innings against Louisiana Tech (2/18) ... struck out a season-high seven ... retired the first 10 batters he faced before allowing a one-out walk to Travis McElory ... Niko Bouzos then followed with a two-run home run for the Bulldogs' only runs in a 9-2 Ole Miss win ... retired the last eight batters he faced following Bouzos' homer ... faced just two batters over the minimum after six innings ... was relieved by Glen Morris in the top of the seventh, and the game was halted following two pitches from Morris in the seventh ... game was called complete following a 45-minute delay with McAvoy being credited with the win.
