OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss track and field teams travel to Columbia, S.C. to participate in the SEC Quadrangular on Saturday at the University of South Carolina.
Ole Miss will compete against SEC rivals, host South Carolina, Arkansas, the defending NCAA indoor an outdoor champions, and the Vanderbilt women's team. Vanderbilt does not have a men's program.
Saturday's competition kicks off with the field events starting at noon and the running events scheduled to begin for 2:00 p.m.
In their first outdoor meet of the season, the Rebels and Lady Rebels took the Proctor Invitational in Edinburg, Texas, by storm, winning 23 of the 36 events while sweeping the top three places in six events. Rebels James Shelton and Chad Dixon and Lady Rebels Teneeshia Jones, Kelly Gable and Lauren Beaulieu were all multiple event winners at the meet.
This will be the first time Ole Miss faces an always high-powered SEC field during the outdoor season. The Rebels and Lady Rebels are trying to build momentum heading into the challenging outdoor schedule, which features competitions at the Texas Relays and Penn Relays.
The last time Ole Miss faced an SEC field, the Rebels finish tied for 10th place and the Lady Rebels finish in 9th place at the SEC Indoor Championships in February. The Lady Rebels went on to finish tied for 18th place at the NCAA championships, the highest team finish ever by the women's team. The Razorback and Ladybacks from Arkansas both won SEC titles at the indoor championships, while the men's team went on to win the NCAA indoor championship and the women finished third.
