VOLTZ FINALIST FOR SEC ACADEMIC AWARD: Senior 1B Jude Voltz has been named a finalist for the 1999-2000 H. Boyd McWhorter SEC Scholar-Athlete Award. As a finalist, Voltz will receive a $5,000 scholarship for post-graduate studies. Each SEC school nominated one male and one female for the award, and a selection committe will name an outstanding male and female scholar-athlete, who will in turn receive a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship, provided by the Alltel Corporation.

HARRISON EARNS 100TH WIN AT OLE MISS: Last night's 4-0 win over Vanderbilt handed fourth-year head coach Pat Harrison is 100th career victory with the Rebels. Harrison is 100-91 (.524) at Ole Miss and has a career record of 234-208-2 (.529) in eight-plus seasons as a head coach.

INJURY REPORT: Sophomore LHP Nathan Lyons will miss his second straight start tonight as he is not listed on Ole Miss' 25-man dress out roster. Lyons missed his last start against Tennessee due to a sore left arm.

REBEL BULLET POINTS:

Last night's 4-0 win snapped the Rebels' longest losing skid of the year at three games.

Dating back to last season, Ole Miss is 15-7 (.682) against the SEC Eastern Division, and is 20-8 (.714) dating back to the third game of the 1998 Florida series (4/12/98).

The Rebels have scored five or less runs in five of their last six games, and in four straight.

Last night's complete-game shutout by Jeff McAvoy was the Rebel pitching staff's eighth quality start of the year (at least 6 IP, 4 ER or less). Last year through 23 games, Ole Miss pitchers had recorded six quality starts.
