Savante' Stringfellow Wins Men's Long Jump At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Ole Miss junior Savante' Stringfellow finished first in the long jump and the Lady Rebel 4x200-meter relay team set a school record to highlight second-day action at the annual Penn Relays.
Stringfellow, who has already qualified for the NCAA Championships, won the men's college long jump championship event with a mark of 26-6 ?. The women's 4x200-meter relay squad of Willette Woods, Tisha Parker, Wanikka Vance and Teneeshia Jones won its heat in a school-record time of 1:35.35, breaking the previous record of 1:35.81 set in 1997. The Lady Rebel team had the overall second-best time of the six heats and advanced to the 4x200-meter relay championship final on Saturday.
The Lady Rebel team of Woods, Parker, Vance and Jones placed sixth in the 4x100-meter relay Championship of America flight with a time of 45.23. Parker also competed in the triple jump on Friday, recording a mark of 38-3 ?.
In other action, John Frierson and Walter Sligh competed in the shot put. Frierson was 15th with a throw of 48-4, while Sligh was 16th with a mark of 48-2 ?.
In late action on Thursday, the Ole Miss women's 4x400-meter relay squad of Dawn Dickerson, Candice Cattron, Brandy Mack and Chika Chuku placed third in its heat with a time of 3:43.59. The team is an alternate for the 4x400-meter relay final on Saturday.
