Ole Miss to Host Louisiana-Monroe Tuesday

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss will open a six-game homestand Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m., when the Rebels host the University of Louisiana at Monroe (formerly NE Louisiana) Indians. Ole Miss will then host the University of Memphis on Wednesday, also at 6:30 p.m., at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.
The meeting is the second of the year between the Indians and Rebels. ULM defeated Ole Miss 9-2 back on March 21 in Monroe.
Ole Miss is 17-13 after losing two-of-three at Kentucky over the weekend. The Rebels are hitting .291 as a team, led junior catcher Carl Lafferty's .348 average. Senior first baseman Jude Voltz is batting .342 and leads the team in HRs with five. Voltz had a career-best 16-game hitting streak snapped Sunday at Kentucky.
Sophomore left-hander Nathan Lyons is expected to make his first start for the Rebels since March 11 at Florida. He saw action this past week out of the bullpen, against Mississippi State in the Mayor's Trophy game and Saturday at Kentucky, after missing two weeks due to soreness in his left arm. Lyons is 3-1 on the year with a 3.86 ERA in 28.1 innings.
ULM is 21-11 and looking to end a three-game skid after losing twice to New Orleans and once to Louisiana-Lafayette last week. The Indians are hitting .310 as a team with 24 HRs, and have outscored the opposition 215-150. Senior Mike Wombacher is hitting a team best .369, and junior Jesse Hoorelbeke is hitting .331 and leads the Indians in HRs (9) and RBI (41). Indian pitchers have a team ERA of 3.26, and opponents are hitting .227 against them with 29 HRs.
Senior right-hander Kevin Orga is expected to draw the start for ULM. Orga started the last game against Ole Miss and pitched three scoreless innings in taking a no decision. He is 3-3 on the year with a 2.74 ERA.
