Townsend faced one more batter before his day ended and Hudson Calhoun came on to finish the inning.
Will Furniss hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning but Arkansas would respond with a solo shot in the bottom of the inning and another in the eighth to cut the lead to five.
Ole Miss added two more insurance runs in the ninth inning as Judd Utermark singled and scored on a Federico double in the right center gap. Cannon Goldin pinch ran for Federico and scored immediately on a single from Reuter.
