ATHENS, Ga. -- Ole Miss men's tennis players James Shortall and Vikrant Chadha advanced to the quarterfinals at the NCAA Doubles Championships Friday and, by doing so, earned All-America honors.

Shortall and Chadha defeated No. 5-8 seeded David Hodge and Mark Williams of Baylor in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. This, after a tough first round match against the team from Columbia in which they won in three tiebreak sets.

"We are extremely excited for Vikrant and James," head coach Billy Chadwick said. "After a tough first round match, they came back and played well against a very good team. Hopefully they can go all the way."

The Rebel duo improved to 16-9 and have won four in a row. In the quarterfinals, Shortall and Chadha will meet Erik Dmytruk and Scott Kintz of California, who upset, the No. 2 seeded team Geoff Abrams and Alex Kim of Stanford in the second round.

Both Chadha and Shortall earned All-American status for the first time in their careers. They are the 14th and 15th All-Americans in the history of the program, and the first since Sebastien DeChaunac earned the honor in 1997.
