OXFORD, Miss. -- Four Ole Miss track and field athletes will compete in five events at the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships starting Wednesday at Wallace Wade Stadium on the campus of Duke University in Durham, N.C.

After a disappointing 10th place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March, Rebel Savante' Stringfellow, who is ranked second in the NCAA and fourth in the world in the long jump this year, will try to redeem himself on Wednesday. He will be competing for the fifth time this season against Arkansas' Melvin Lister, who had the best jump in the world this year to defeat Stringfellow at the SEC Championships in Baton Rouge in May. For the season, Stringfellow and Lister are even at two wins a piece.

On the women's side, four-time All-American junior Teneeshia Jones will be looking for her first outdoor All-America honor. After finishing second in the 100 meters and third in the 200 meters at the SEC Championships, she is a threat to score big for the Lady Rebels.

Two-time All-American Tisha Parker will be the Lady Rebels' other big scoring threat. After becoming the first Ole Miss women's SEC Champion by winning the long jump at the SEC Championships in May, Parker is ranked second in the NCAA and could become the Lady Rebels' first ever NCAA Champion.

By qualifying for the championships, Brandy Mack becomes the first Ole Miss athlete to ever compete in three consecutive NCAA Championships in an individual event, after competing in the 400-meter hurdles at both the 1998 and 1999 NCAA Outdoor Championships. After qualifying in second in the preliminaries of the 400-meter hurdles at the SEC Championships, Mack was disqualified due to a false start, but remains the school record holder in that event.

Scheduled to compete Wednesday are Stringfellow in the trials and finals of the men's long jump, Jones in the preliminaries of the 200 meters and Mack in the semifinals of the 400-meter hurdles.
