Clint Carver Named New Assistant Baseball Coach

OXFORD, Miss.- New Ole Miss head baseball coach Mike Bianco has named Clint Carver as an assistant coach for the Rebels. Carver comes to Ole Miss after serving as an assistant under Bianco the past two seasons at McNeese State.
Carver's duties at Ole Miss will include serving as the team's hitting coach, working with the outfielders and coaching third base. He will also assist in recruiting.
"I'm very excited to get Clint on board here," Bianco said. "He's worked with me at McNeese the last couple of years. He's an outstanding young coach and is really a tremendous teacher. He has a great rapport with the players, and is one who I believe is going to be a great recruiter in the years to come here at Ole Miss."
A 1998 graduate of McNeese State, Carver was a two-year letterwinner for the Cowboys in 1995 and 1996, playing both catcher and outfield. He was twice named to the Southland Conference (SLC) All-Academic team, and in 1996, was named McNeese State's student-athlete of the year. He graduated >from McNeese State in May 1998 with a degree in Criminal Justice and held a 3.89 cumulative GPA.
As an assistant at McNeese State, Carver served as the team's hitting instructor, outfield coach, and third base coach. Under his guidance, the Cowboys established a new school mark for home runs with 81 in 1999, and this past year's team broke the school's single-season record for hits with 600.
Carver coached two All-Americans in Ben Broussard and Chris Williamson, both of whom also won the SLC's Hitter of the Year Award. Broussard won the award in 1999 and Williamson in 2000. In addition, Williamson was named as the SLC's Newcomer of the Year for the 2000 season.
Carver got his coaching start by serving as the head coach for Barbe High School's-based American Legion team in Lake Charles, La., during the summers from 1996-1999.
Carver, 25, is married to the former Kimberly Joyce, and the couple is expecting their first child in January.
