Lady Rebel Volleyball Heads To Memphis

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss volleyball team will travel to Memphis this weekend to participate in the University of Memphis/Graphic Systems Classic. The Lady Rebels will take on Nicholls State Friday at 3 p.m. Saturday, they will return to action against Syracuse at 11:30 a.m., before facing host Memphis at 7:30 p.m.

Ole Miss will take a 4-4 overall record into the tournament. The Lady Rebels recently took third place at the Hampton Inn/Jayhawk Classic in Lawrence, Kan. At the Jayhawk Classic, Ole Miss went 2-2 taking wins against Furman (3-1) and West Virginia (3-1) and suffering losses to East Carolina (0-3) and host Kansas (1-3).

Leading the way for the Ole Miss were outside hitters, junior Jaime Burns and senior Kira Zschau, as they were named to the Hampton Inn/Jayhawk Classic All-Tournament team. Burns tallied 76 kills, 40 digs and five service aces, while Zschau recorded 55 kills, 40 digs and eight blocks during the two-day tournament. The award was the first for both in 2000.

The Lady Rebels home-opener is Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. against Georgia.
