Chad Dixon Leads Men's Cross Country at Crimson Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Ole Miss senior Chad Dixon placed 22nd to lead the Rebel cross country team to a 12th-place finish at the Crimson Classic Saturday. Sophomore Katy Nailen was the Lady Rebels top finisher in 89th place, as the women's squad placed 23rd.
The Rebels placed 12th with 326 points, while the Lady Rebels were 23rd with 660 points. South Florida placed first in the team standings in both races, with the men's team scoring 50 points and the women's squad scoring 55 points.
Dixon was the highest finisher for the Rebels, placing 22nd in a time of 25:01.27. Sophomore Matt Carter also placed in the top 50, coming in 47th place in a time of 25:32.54. Other Rebels scoring for Ole Miss at the Crimson Classic were Ben Chisman (68th, 26:14.61), Scott Thompson (93rd, 26:52.49) and Marcus Christoffersen (96th, 27:01.38).
Hank Campbell (112th, 27:36.55) and Jim Morrison (125th, 28:49.09) also competed for the Rebels.
For the Lady Rebels, Nailen was the top finisher with a time of 20:21.36. Senior Angela Westbrook was the squad's second-highest finisher, placing 115th in a time of 21:13.41. Other Lady Rebels scoring were Natalie Gerke (136th, 22:18.23), Cheryl Faubion (157th, 24:37.45) and Dawn Harden (163rd, 26:04.59).
Alabama swept the Crimson Classic individual titles, with Chris Mutai winning the men's race in a time of 23:56.92 and Ashley La Budde placing first in the women's race in a time of 17:04.83.
The Ole Miss cross country squads will travel to Jonesboro, Ark., Sept. 23 to compete in the Arkansas State Invitational.
