Rebels Win Second-Straight Meet, Lady Rebels Take Second

JONESBORO, Ark. - The Ole Miss men's cross country team captured the first place trophy at the ASU/Pepsi Invitational Saturday in Jonesboro, Ark. The Rebels tallied 27 points to as four of the top five runners finished in the top 10 on the 8,000-meter course. Host Arkansas State finished second (42), while Jackson State finished third (54).

The Ole Miss women's cross country team finished second behind freshman Erin Jordan's first place finish. Jordan ran the 5,000-meter course in 20:40.00 to collect her first career first-place finish. Memphis won the team title with 27 points and the Lady Rebels were second with 58. Rounding out the team scoring for the women were Jackson State (68) and Arkansas State (68).

Leading the way for the Rebels for the fourth consecutive week was senior Hank Campbell who finished the race in 2nd place (26:01.00). Campbell was followed by senior Chad Dixon (4th, 26:31.00) and junior Matt Carter (5th, 26:38.00). Senior Marcus Christofferson finished 9th (29:26.00), freshman Keller Glass finished 12th (30:24.00) and freshman Clinton Fletcher rounded out the Ole Miss scoring with his 17th-place finish (32:20.00).

In addition to Jordan's first place finish, sophomore Demetria Burks finished 11th (22:43.00), freshman Beth Brorby finished 12th (22:52.00) and senior Chika Chuku crossed the finish line in 16th place (23:42.00). Rounding out the race for the Lady Rebels were freshmen Lesley Cross in 18th (24:44.00) and junior Jennifer Jones finished 23rd (28:51.00).
