OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss baseball has signed right-handed pitcher/designated hitter Mark Holliman and outfielder Mark Wright, both of Germantown High School in Germantown, Tenn., to national letters of intent during the early fall signing period, Head Coach Mike Bianco announced Thursday.
Holliman, 6-feet-0, 180 pounds, and Wright, 6-feet-2, 195 pounds, helped Germantown to the Tennessee 5A state championship last spring.
"We're very excited that in our second year we've been able to sign two of the top players off the Tennessee 5A state championship team," Bianco said. "We consider Holliman to be the top pitcher and best all-around player in the state of Tennessee, and Wright to be one of the premier offensive outfielders in the southeast."
This past summer, Holliman participated in the East Coast Area Code Games and was one of the final 24 players that was under consideration for the USA Junior Olympic Team. Wright played in both the East Coast and West Coast Area Code Games this past summer.
The Rebels finished 39-23-1 last season in their first under Bianco, and advanced to an NCAA Regional. Ole Miss' recruiting class last year was rated No. 6 in the nation by Collegiate Baseball and No. 10 by Baseball America.
