TEAM NOTES
Ole Miss' 5-1 win over Arkansas-Little Rock in game one of Saturday's doubleheader marked the Rebels' 20th consecutive season-opening victory. The last time Ole Miss lost a season-opener was in 1981, 8-6 to Livingston.
Junior RHP Pete Montrenes allowed just one hit and struck out a career-high seven while throwing six shutout innings to earn the victory in his Ole Miss debut Saturday. Montrenes transferred to Ole Miss this past summer from Southern California.
Freshman INF Matt Tolbert led the Rebels at the plate this weekend, going 5-for-9 (.556) with two doubles and three triples in the three-game series against UALR. Tolbert also scored three runs and drew two walks.
Senior 3B Lance Jones was 5-for-12, with four of the five hits going for doubles.
