OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss and SE Missouri State split a twinbill Sunday afternoon at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.

The Rebels (6-2) won the opener 14-3, while the Indians (4-2) took the nightcap 5-2. Both were seven-inning games.

Ole Miss scored six runs in the fifth inning of game one, highlighted by Carl Lafferty's bases loaded triple, to take a 6-2 lead. The Rebels then broke the game open with seven runs in the sixth, capped by Craig Nugen's two-out, two-run double.

Mike Gray (1-0) earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks, while striking out four in six innings of work.

SEMO reliever Greg Lunski (1-1) was charged with the loss after being touched for eight runs on seven hits and one walk.

Kris Cox and Lance Jones recorded two hits each for the Rebels as Ole Miss out-hit SEMO 11-8 in the first game. Lafferty was 1-for-3 with four RBI.

The Indians had four players with two hits a piece in game one.

In the nightcap, Denver Stuckey's two-run single in the seventh gave the Indians a 3-2 lead and sparked a four-run SEMO rally.

Jeff Hilz (1-0) pitched 2.2 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win and struck out four.

Michael Posey (1-1) suffered the loss after starting the seventh in relief of Ronnie Goodwin. Posey faced five batters, allowing four runs on three hits and two walks.

Goodwin pitched six solid innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits and one walk, and struck out five in taking a no decision.

Six different Indians recorded a hit each as SEMO out-hit Ole Miss 6-5.

Burney Hutchinson and Josh Christian had two hits a piece for the Rebels.

Ole Miss had several chances to break the game open, however the Rebels would strand nine runners on base, including six in scoring position.

Ole Miss will conclude its nine-game, season-opening homestand on Wednesday when the Rebels host Austin Peay at 6:30 p.m.
