Ole Miss Escapes With 5-3 Win Over Kentucky

OXFORD, Miss. - Freshman right-hander Adam Yates coaxed Cory Hahn to ground into a game-ending double play with the bases loaded to allow Ole Miss to escape with a 5-3 win over Kentucky, Saturday afternoon at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.
Kentucky won the series-opener 6-0 on Friday evening, and the two teams will play the rubber-match Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
Yates pitched three scoreless innings of relief to earn his second save of the season and extend his scoreless-inning streak to 26 1/3.
Mike Gray (2-0) allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks, and struck out seven in six innings to earn the win.
Joseph Blanton (0-2) went the distance for Kentucky, allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits and four walks, and struck out six in suffering the loss.
Vince Harrison went 3-for-5 with two RBI as Kentucky out-hit Ole Miss 11-7, however the Wildcats stranded 13 runners on base.
Josh Christian went 3-for-4 with three RBI for the Rebels and hit a two-run home run in the fourth to put Ole Miss on top 4-3.
The Rebels later picked up an insurance run on Clint Farrar's RBI single in the seventh.
Sunday's game will not be carried on the Ole Miss Baseball Radio Network due to the Rebels' men's basketball game at 12 p.m., against Kentucky in the SEC Tournament championship game.
