Ole Miss Finishes Third At Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE, La. -

After a day of heavy rains and having the tournament reduced to 36 holes on Monday, the Ole Miss men's golf team finished third at the Louisiana Classics at the Oakbourne Country Club.

The Rebels fired a 36-hole total of 578 (284-294--578) and finished six strokes behind tournament champion Tennessee. The Volunteers fired a 279-293--572, to take the team championship.

Ole Miss' Troy Muller took his second career individual championship with a 69-71--139. The native of Braithwaite, La., also took medalist honors at the Gary Koch/Cleveland Intercollegiate on Oct. 16-17, 2000. He is the first Rebel golfer to win two titles in the same season since former Rebel great Haymes Snedeker won two championships in 1998-99.

J.J. Thompson (73-73--146) and Phil Caravia (71-75--146) tied for 20th place. Andrew Medley tied for 26th place with a 72-75--147 and Tommy Clement finished tied for 46th place with a 76-75--151.

The Rebels will be back in action on March 23-25, when they travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to play in the Alabama Spring Invitational.
