Ole Miss Men's Tennis Puts Down Indiana, 4-2

OXFORD, Miss.-- The Ole Miss men's tennis team defeated Indiana 4-2 Wednesday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center on campus.
Due to possible incoming bad weather, the two teams played only singles and the match was stopped after the Rebels secured four points for the win.
"It was a good match and we expected a close match coming in," said Ole Miss head coach Billy Chadwick. "Indiana always has one of the top teams in the Big 10.
"They (Indiana) did a good job fighting back. We had a 3-0 lead and had match point in a couple of other matches but they came back to win those. If they would have won that last singles match, we would of had to play for the doubles point."
In No. 1 singles, Ole Miss' Alex Hartman defeated Indiana's Milan Rakvica 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. The Hoosiers took the No. 2 singles when Ian Arons defeated James Shortall James Shortall 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. The Rebels came back to take No. 3 singles when Kristofer Stahlberg Kristofer Stahlberg downed Paul Jacobson, 6-4, 6- 0.
The Rebels' Martin Selin Martin Selin took No. 4 singles when he defeated Rahman Smiley in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. Indiana picked up their final victory when Zach Held defeated Paul Ciorascu 6-3, 4- 6, 6-4. Patrick Chucri sealed the Rebels' victory when he downed Joel Balsiger in straight sets, 6- 0, 6-1.
The Rebels will be back in action Sunday when they will host South Florida at noon at the Palmer/Sallum Tennis Center.
