Ole Miss Hosts Southeast Missouri

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss softball team returns home for a doubleheader with Southeast Missouri, Wednesday beginning at 5 p.m. (CT). In the schools' only previous meeting, the Rebels swept the Otahkians, 8-0 and 8-0, in a Mar. 6 doubleheader in Cape Girardeau.

Ole Miss (13-16) is coming off a 2-5 showing last weekend at the Capital Classic in Sacramento, Calif., picking up a 1-0 win over tournament runner-up Texas Tech and a 2-1 win over host Sacramento State.

Senior hurler Jennifer Hughes (7-5) tossed her fifth shutout of the year in the Texas Tech victory, and earned her seventh win in her last nine starts. Hughes also recorded her third career save in the Sac State win.

Freshman catcher Jennifer Poore was named to the All-Tournament Team. A San Diego native, Poore returned to her home state to hit .381 (8-for-21) with two RBI and a team-high four stolen bases. She also drove in the game-winning run against the Red Raiders. Poore leads the Rebels this season with a .333 average and 14 RBI.

In their last action, Southeast Missouri (3-7) went 3-2 at the UK Invitational with senior righthander Jenny Doehring tossing shutouts in all three wins. The Nashville native is 3-2 with a 2.12 ERA in five games this season. Doehring, a part-time shortstop, is also the Otahkians' leading hitter with a .296 average.
