Rebel Softball Falls to MSU in Series Finale

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss softball team fell to Mississippi State Wednesday in the finale of the three-game set. The 12-0 win earned the Bulldogs a series sweep.
MSU (20-16, 8-2 SEC) picked up five runs in the first and seven more in the fifth to secure the five-inning, mercy-rule win. A.J. Lott hit 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Bulldogs' 10-hit attack.
Jennifer Pursell (9-8) held the Rebels to one hit - a Jamie Cummings double - in the victory. For the Rebels, Holly Burris (2-6) lasted four innings in the loss, while Lindsay Price and Leslie Day also saw action in relief.
Ole Miss (15-22, 2-7 SEC) continues its eight-game homestand this weekend with a three-game series against Auburn. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 5 p.m. (CT), while Sunday's finale is set for 1.
