OLE MISS CLIMBS IN NATIONAL POLLS: Following a 3-1 week that included a three-game SEC sweep of Alabama, Ole Miss climbed in all three of this week's major college baseball polls. The Rebels are ranked as high as No. 16 in Collegiate Baseball's Top 30, up three spots from the previous week, and climbed as much as seven spots in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches Top 25 from No. 24 to No. 17. Ole Miss also jumped two spots in Baseball America's Top 25 from No. 21 to No. 19.

LAST TIME OUT: Two Ole Miss errors helped send 11 Mississippi State batters to the plate during a seven-run fifth inning as the Bulldogs cruised to a 15-6 win over the No. 16 Rebels in the 22nd annual Mayor's Trophy game Wednesday night at Jackson's Smith-Wills Stadium. Six of the Bulldogs' seven runs in the fifth inning were unearned. The Rebels led 2-1 after the first, scoring on Lance Jones' RBI single and Josh Christian's sacrifice fly to left. Mississippi State tied the game in the fourth on Josh West's lead-off home run before taking control of the contest with the seven-run fifth. Senior RHP Dan McShea (1-3) suffered the loss, allowing four runs, three earned, on on six hits and one walk in four-plus innings. He also struck out four.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS: Georgia enters today's game with an 18-7 record, including 6-3 in the SEC. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 20 by Baseball America, No. 23 in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches Top 25, and No. 26 by Collegiate Baseball. Georgia ranks fourth in the SEC in hitting with a .314 (282x899) team average. The Bulldogs are led at the plate by junior SS Jeff Keppinger, who ranks second in the SEC in hitting at .442 (42x95). Senior Mark Thornhill is third in the conference at .404 (38x94) average. Keppinger and senior Andy Neufeld have both hit a team-high five HRs, and Keppinger also leads the team in RBI with 28. Bulldog pitchers have a team ERA of 4.07 (230.0 IP, 104 ER), and opponents are hitting .264 (242x918) against them with 20 HRs.

SERIES INFO: Tonight's meeting is the 40th all-time between Ole Miss and Georgia ... Georgia leads the series 21-18 ... the Rebels have won three of the last four SEC series dating back to 1995 ... the Bulldogs won last year's series 2-1 in Athens ... Ole Miss has never swept a three-game series from Georgia, however, the Rebels did win both games of a rain-shortened series in Athens in 1998 ... Georgia has the only three-game sweep in the series, that coming in 1989 in Oxford ... Ole Miss is 9-8 all-time against Georgia in Oxford, and 7-11 in Athens ... There are four games in 1929 and 1930 that the site can not be determined, and the two teams split those games.

REBELS RECORD BACK-TO-BACK SWEEPS: Ole Miss' three-game sweep of Alabama last weekend in Oxford marked the first time since 1972 the Rebels have recorded back-to-back SEC sweeps. Ole Miss swept three games from Auburn, Mar. 16-18, the previous weekend. It was also Ole Miss' first sweep of the Crimson Tide since 1979. The sweeps of the Crimson Tide and Tigers marks the first time since 1979 Ole Miss has swept both Alabama schools in the same season, and the first time since 1994 the Rebels have won an SEC series against the two schools during the same campaign.

MANUFACTURING RUNS: One of the keys to Ole Miss' success this season has been its ability to manufacture runs. The Rebels are tied for second in the SEC in sacrifice bunts with 17, 10 more than their last year's total of seven in 55 games. Ole Miss has moved 21 runners into scoring position with those 17 sac bunts, eventually scoring 14 (66.7 percent). The Rebels are also ranked fourth in the SEC in sac flies with 13. In total sacrifices (sac bunts and sac flies), Ole Miss is tied for third in the SEC with 30. Auburn leads the conference with 34 total sacrifices and Tennessee is second with 32.

AFTER 29 GAMES LAST YEAR: Ole Miss was 17-12 after 29 games last season ... The Rebels had a .295 batting average (307x1,039) with 24 HRs, 165 RBI, 51 doubles and five triples ... Ole Miss had outscored its opponents 180-157 ... The Rebels stole 33-of-46 bases and had hit into 17 double plays ... Ole Miss pitchers had a 4.75 ERA (255.2 IP, 135 ER), allowing 252 hits, including 20 HRs, walked 110 and struck out 194 ... The Rebels had committed 40 errors and turned 21 double plays.

REBEL DIAMOND NOTES:
* Ole Miss' 12-4-1 record in March is the Rebels' best in terms of winning percentage since going 14-5 in 1995. The 1995 squad posted a .7368 winning percentage in March. This year's team has a .7352 winning percentage this month.
* The Rebels are second in the SEC in triples with 11, two behind league-leader Tennessee at 13.
* Ole Miss has grounded into the most double plays in the SEC at 24.
* The eight saves recorded by Ole Miss pitchers this season leads the SEC, one more than South Carolina and Tennessee.

* Is making his eighth start and eighth appearance of the season.
