Rebel Men's Tennis Downs Vanderbilt, 6-1

The No. 12 nationally-ranked Ole Miss men's tennis team moved to 14-4 overall and 5-2 in the SEC with a 6-1 win over 42nd-ranked Vanderbilt Sunday afternoon at the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Center.
Ole Miss took a 1-0 lead by claiming the doubles point. Kristofer Stahlberg and James Shortall downed Eddie Coates and Bobby Reynolds 8-2 at No. 1 doubles and Patrick Chucri and Alex Hartman topped Brad Hambrick and Josh Tarkoff 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles, the Rebels won five of the six matches. Martin Selin dominated Tarkoff 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and Paul Ciorascu cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Jens Fredriksen at No. 4 singles.
Hartman came back to beat VU's Coates 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 at the top spot. He needs one win to notch his 25th of the year. Stahlberg won his 16th consecutive match and dropped only his second set during the streak as he lost the first set to Bobby Reynolds 7-5. He rallied to win the next two 6-3, 6-1. Stahlberg became the second Rebel to reach 20 wins for the year this weekend with his two wins.
Shortall split sets with Zach Dailey claiming the first one in a tiebreaker. Dailey won the second set 6-4 before Shortall would take the decisive set 6-3. The Commodores only win of the day came at No. 6 singles, where Lewis Smith took out Chucri 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
The Rebels completed the road trip 2-0 with their 4-3 win over Kentucky Friday night. In that win, Ole Miss lost the doubles point, but rallied to win the match as Chucri clinched the victory at No. 6 singles.
Ole Miss returns home to host a pair of SEC foes next weekend beginning with 11th-ranked Tennessee on Friday, April 6 at 2:00 p.m. Following that match, the Rebels will meet Florida Sunday at noon.
