TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Ole Miss softball team suffered its third shutout of the weekend with Sunday's 7-0 Alabama win, giving the Crimson Tide the series sweep. It is only the second time the Rebels (17-31, 4-14 SEC) have been swept this season.
Alabama (38-5, 17-3 SEC) tallied all seven runs with two outs in the third inning. A Suzanne Olcott RBI-triple and a Lindsay Testa three-run homer were the key shots for the Tide.
Jennifer Poore notched both Ole Miss hits (2-for-3) with singles in the fourth and seventh innings. The freshman from San Diego collected six of the Rebels' nine hits in the series.
Erin Wright (10-3) held Ole Miss to the two hits over six frames in the shutout. Lindsay Price (5-8) allowed seven hits, six of which in the third-inning rally, in the complete-game loss.
Ole Miss continues its eight-game SEC road swing Wednesday and Thursday at Arkansas. Wednesday's doubleheader between the Rebels and Lady 'Backs is set to start at 6 p.m. (CT), and Thursday's finale will be at 6.
