Softball Drops Low-Scoring Finale To Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - In the third low-scoring game of the series, the Ole Miss softball team dropped the finale to Arkansas, 2-0, to give the Lady Razorbacks the sweep. The Rebels' (17-34, 4-17 SEC) pitching staff held Arkansas to two runs in each of the three games.

UA hurlers Heather Schlichtman (21-11) and Rachel Talley combined on the Lady 'Backs' second shutout of the series, allowing three hits combined. Holly Burris (2-11) limited Arkansas to five hits and two runs over the five innings. Leslie Day tossed one inning of scoreless relief.

The Lady 'Backs (30-24, 12-12 SEC) plated their first run in the second inning with Tiffany Woolley singling home Cortney Mitchell. Another run came across in the fifth when Stephanie Hunter bunted her way on base and later scored on a wild pitch.

For Ole Miss, senior Jamie Cummings notched her seventh double of the season and finished the series hitting 5-for-10.

The Rebels host Georgia this weekend in the final home series of the year. Saturday's doubleheader will start at 1 p.m. (CT) and Sunday's finale is also set for 1. The Ole Miss senior class will be honored prior to the Sunday game.
