Ole Miss Tracksters Perform Well At Louisiana-Monroe Relays

MONROE, La. - Ole Miss sophomore Tarjatta Rose led the Lady Rebel track squad at the Louisiana-Monroe Relays on Saturday as she placed first in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.50) and second in the 100-meter hurdles (14.20).

Junior Monique McClure finished first in the javelin with a toss of 135-1. The distance was a new personal best for McClure and is just nine inches off the Ole Miss javelin record. McClure also took fourth place in the high jump (5-0.25), just behind fellow Lady Rebel Cindy Bowling, who finished third (5-0.25).

Freshman Rachel Wood took third in the 400 meters (59.28) and junior Chika Chuku finished third in the 800 meters (2:19.18). Sophomore April Rembert took third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.00) and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.54). The Lady Rebel 4x400-meter relay team finished second (3:49.85).

Freshman Noah Cosby led the Rebels with his second place finish in the pole vault. Cosby cleared 15-5.75 in taking second. Sophomore Walt Sligh finished third in the shot put, throwing 50-5, a new personal best.

Senior Tobias Anderson took fourth place in the 200 meters (21.71), junior Dominik Fuhrmann finished fourth in the 800 meters (1:54.82), sophomore Hank Campbell was fourth in the 1,500 meters (4:01.20), Daniel Landrum took fourth in the long jump (23-05.5) and Bill Flowers finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (54.81).

Ole Miss will take next weekend off in preparation for the SEC Championships. The conference meet will be held May 10-13 in Columbia, S.C.
