AUSTIN, Texas - Ole Miss seniors Savante' Stringfellow, Teneeshia Jones and Brandy Barnett starred for Ole Miss on Friday at the 74th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

Stringfellow had the performance of the day at the Texas Relays, by winning the men's long jump with a meet, stadium and Ole Miss record leap of 27-6.75. In just his first jump of the outdoor season, Stringfellow, the reigning NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Long Jump Champion, automatically qualified for the 2001 NCAA Outdoor Championships and claimed the world's longest outdoor leap of 2001.

"I had a lot of pent up energy after taking the last few weeks off," said Stringfellow, a Jackson, Miss., native. "I just went out and got a good jump right away and took the pressure off myself.

"Last year at this time I jumped 26-4, so I am hoping that by starting off so well, this is a sign of big things ahead of me for the rest of the season."

Jones, a Nettleton, Miss., native, broke her own Ole Miss school record in her preliminary race in the 100 meters (11.23). Jones' time in the 100 meters tied for the top preliminary time in the competition with Aleen Bailey of Barton County (Kan.) Community College. Both Jones and Bailey set a new Myers Stadium record and also automatically qualified for the 2001 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the event. Jones will compete in the women's 100 meter dash final Saturday at 3:20 p.m.

Jones was not done on Friday yet, as she also won her preliminary heat in the 100-meter hurdles (13.36), moving her into Saturday's 2:40 p.m. final, and setting another Ole Miss record.

"I felt really good out there today," said Jones. "I have a lot of confidence right now. I enjoy running in big meets and I am excited to go out tomorrow and try to win my races."

Barnett, a Cave Springs, Ga., native, won the women's Section B high jump by clearing 5-10.5. The height provisionally qualified Barnett for the 2001 NCAA Outdoor Championships and tied her own Ole Miss school record.

"This is a really exciting victory for me," said Barnett. "This gives me a good boost of confidence for the rest of the season. I felt like I really stepped up for my team and myself today by going out and doing what I always knew I could do."

Another Ole Miss senior, Tisha Parker, finished fifth in the women's Section A long jump. Parker leaped 20-6.25 in provisionally qualifying for the 2001 NCAA Outdoor Championships. She will compete in Saturday's Section A triple jump competition at 1:30 p.m.

Brandy Mack, a senior from Akron, Ohio, qualified for the finals in the 400-meter hurdles on Thursday. Mack finished first in her preliminary heat with time of 1:00.00. She will compete in Saturday's 12:15 p.m. final.

The Rebel 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Aaron Fenzel, Kendrick Triggs, Franz Bernard and Lawrence Wade, qualified for finals by winning their preliminary heat with a season's best time of 3:12.13. The men's 4x400-meter relays finals will be Saturday at 4:25 p.m.
