Tomorrow: TBA vs. TBA (Ole Miss Radio Network, airtime 1:45 p.m.)

IN THE POLLS: Ole Miss is ranked in all three major college baseball polls for the eighth straight week. The Rebels' highest ranking is No. 20 in the Collegiate Baseball Top 30. Ole Miss is ranked No. 22 in the Baseball America Top 25 and No. 23 in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches Top 25 ... Mississippi State enters this weekend's series unranked in any of the three polls.

SCHEDULE CHANGE: Tomorrow's game has been pushed back one hour to 2 p.m., to avoid conflicts with the championship match of the NCAA Men's Tennis Regional, that Ole Miss is hosting at the Palmer-Salloum Tennis Center, scheduled for noon.

LAST TIME OUT: Matthew Brinson went 2x2 with three RBIs and Paul Maholm (6-4) allowed three runs over 7.1 innings to lead Mississippi State to a 6-3 win over No. 20 Ole Miss last night, in the opener of a three-game SEC series. The Rebels took a 2-0 lead, scoring a run in the first and second innings before the Bulldogs rallied for three in the fourth. Brinson's two-run single tied the game at 2-2 and he then scored to give Mississippi State a 3-2 lead on Steve Gendron's sac fly to center. Maholm scattered 11 hits, walked none, and struck out six before giving way to Josh Wooten, who pitched the final 1.2 innings to earn the save. Junior Pete Montrenes (9-4) suffered the loss as he was charged with five runs, four earned, on seven hits and five walks in eight innings. He also struck out seven. Freshman Matt Tolbert went 3x4 with a RBI as Ole Miss out-hit Mississippi State 13-9.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS: Last night's win was only Mississippi State's second SEC win in its last seven conference games. Overall, the Bulldogs are 5-5 in their last 10 games. Mississippi State entered this weekend's series 11th in the SEC in hitting, and comes into tonight's contest with a .277 team batting average. Senior 1B/OF Jon Knott leads the team with a .353 (65x184) average after going 3x5 last night. Knott also has hit eight of the Bulldogs' 29 home runs this season. Senior OF Josh West leads the team with 44 RBIs. Mississippi State pitchers entered the series with the third-best ERA in the SEC, and enter tonight's game with a staff ERA of 3.54 (460.1 IP, 181 ER). Opponents are hitting .242 off Bulldog pitching with 24 HRs.
