COLUMBIA, S.C. - Ole Miss senior Teneeshia Jones won her first SEC Championship on Sunday by leading the field in the 100-meter hurdles. Jones clocked in at 13.40 in taking her first conference title. She also finished fourth in the 200 meters (23.31) and seventh in the 100 meters (11.60) to score 17 points for the Lady Rebels.

"I have worked long and hard to win an SEC title," said Jones. "I was so excited when I crossed the finish line, it was a great feeling to know I was finally an SEC champion."

Jones 17 points were the most every scored by an individual Lady Rebel at the SEC Outdoor Championships and also made her the highest Ole Miss career point scorer at the SEC Championships.

"I was really proud of the way Teneeshia Jones competed for us," said Ole Miss head track coach Joe Walker. "She has been an outstanding individual to work with and I am very gald that she finally got an SEC Championships that she has worked so hard for. She was a warrior out there and led her team as best she could."

Along with Jones' 17 points, the Lady Rebels scored points with senior Tisha Parker's fourth place finish in the long jump (20-4.25) and senior Brandy Mack's fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (58.89). Mack's time in the 400-meter hurdles gives her a provisional qualification for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Joining Jones' as a three-event scorer was junior Monique McClure. McClure, who already placed eighth in the heptathlon on Friday, placed seventh in the javelin (126-6) and eighth in the shot put (45-5).

Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Rebels were the 4x400-meter relay team of senior Willette Woods, Mack, junior Candice Cattron and junior Chika Chuku. The relay team placed seventh with a time of 3:44.52.

Senior Savante' Stringfellow added to his second place long jump finish with a sixth place finish in the 200 meters (21.05) and was also a member of the 4x100-meter relay team that placed seventh (41.06). Joining Stringfellow on the relay were freshmen Damon Harris, Chris Collins and Kendrick Triggs.
