Track Teams Place 13 On SEC Academic Honor Roll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss had 13 members of its men's and women's track and field teams named to the 2001 SEC Academic Honor Roll Tuesday, as announced by SEC Commissioner Roy Kramer.

Current Lady Rebels, senior Brandy Mack (Akron, Ohio) and sophomore Katy Nailen (Birmingham, Ala.), were named to the prestigious group as well as former Lady Rebels Dawn Dickerson, Cathy Prior, Kelly Gable and Lauren Beaulieu.

The seven Rebels making the grade were sophomores Matt Carter (Marietta, Ga.), Jim Morrison (Jackson, Miss.) and Walt Sligh (Canton, Miss.), along with juniors Ben Chisman (Cape Girardeau, Mo.), Marcus Christofferson (Homedale, Idaho) and Dominik Fuhrmann (Dusseldorf, Germany), and senior Aaron Fenzel (Grafton, Ohio).

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must: 1) have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past year or for their career, 2) be a sophomore or higher in academic classification, and 3) have 24 semester hours countable toward a degree. The 2001 Honor Roll is based on grades from the 1999-2000 academic calendar.

Ole Miss placed seven track and field athletes on the 2000 SEC Academic Honor Roll.
