OXFORD, Miss. - Holiday tournaments at Montana State, Central Florida and Temple headline the Ole Miss women's basketball 2001-02 schedule. As in previous years, the Lady Rebels will play one of the most demanding schedules in the country. Ole Miss will play 10 teams that went to postseason play in 2001, including eight NCAA Tournament teams.

"Our staff has put together a very strong non-conference schedule again this year," said Ole Miss head coach Ron Aldy. "It is a given that the SEC portion of our schedule will be tough, so adding our non-conference opponents makes our schedule very challenging."

The Lady Rebels will tip-off the 2001-02 season on the road as they travel to Cookeville, Tenn., to take on Tennessee Tech on Nov 16. Ole Miss will then have its home-opener in Tad Smith Coliseum on Nov. 19 against Murray State before traveling to Bozeman, Mt., for the Gran Tree Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Montana State. Northern Illinois and Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2001 NCAA Tournament participant) will join the host school and the Lady Rebels at the Nov. 23-24 tournament. Ole Miss will close out November against Arkansas-Little Rock in Oxford on Nov. 27.

The Lady Rebels travel to Middle Tennessee (Dec. 1) and Arkansas State (Dec. 7) and host Vermont (Dec. 4) and 2001 NCAA Tournament participant UT-Chattanooga (Dec. 15) before heading to Orlando for the Central Florida Holiday Classic. Ole Miss will play South Alabama (Dec. 21) and the host Central Florida (Dec. 22) at the tournament. The Lady Rebels will end the year at the Temple University Classic in Philadelphia, Pa. Fairleigh Dickinson and Maryland-Eastern Shore will also participate in the Dec. 30-31 tournament.

Ole Miss will open the Southeastern Conference portion of their schedule at home against Arkansas (Jan. 6) and then travel to play in-state rival Mississippi State (Jan. 10). The Lady Rebels will play road games at Vanderbilt (Jan. 13), Florida (Jan. 20) and Auburn (Jan. 31) and host LSU (Jan. 17), Georgia (Jan. 24) and Mississippi State (Jan. 27) to close out the month of January.

The Lady Rebels continue SEC play in February, traveling to LSU (Feb. 3), Alabama (Feb. 17) and South Carolina (Feb.24) and hosting Kentucky (Feb. 7), Florida (Feb. 10) and Tennessee (Feb. 21) to close out the regular season.

The SEC Tournament will be held Feb. 28-March 3 at the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville, Tenn.

"We definitely have an attractive home schedule for our fans," said Aldy. "Between our non-conference and SEC home games, some of the top teams in the country will be coming to Oxford."
