Ole Miss Tabbed Preseason No. 17 In NCBWA Poll

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss is ranked No. 17 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) CollegeSportsNews.com preseason college baseball poll, which was released Monday.
The Rebels are one of four Southeastern Conference teams to be ranked in all four of the preseason college baseball polls. Ole Miss was selected a preseason No. 14 by Collegiate Baseball, No. 18 by Baseball Weekly, and No. 20 by Baseball America.
Stanford is ranked No.1 in the NCBWA poll, making the Cardinal a consensus No. 1 in all four polls. Defending national champion Miami, Fla., is rated No. 2, followed by Southern California, Clemson and Florida State to round out the top five. The rest of the top 10 includes Tulane, South Carolina, Nebraska, LSU, and Rice.
Mississippi State is the fourth SEC team to be ranked in the poll, as the Bulldogs were tabbed No. 21.
Ole Miss is scheduled to open its 2002 season at home on Friday, Feb. 15 against Jacksonville State. Game time is 3:00 p.m., at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.
